2nd December (Mini League)

Away vs Dunmow at The Flitch Snooker Centre

Walton 8 - 4 Dunmow

Walton travelled to Dunmow for the second match in the mini league.. Once again Adrian Cranmer took charge of the side and this was rewarded with his first win as Walton defeated Dunmow 8-4.. Robert Emery missed the game and Tony saunders was also missing with bruised ribs & Kidneys.... The first game saw Walton get off to a flying start as the young partnership of Ben Austin (27.29) & Reece Hutchison (23.78) comb (25.67) impressed as they won in 39 darts against Matthew Atkinson & Phillip Barrett comb (19.39). Walton soon extended their lead as Alan Currivan (25.42) & Ken Russell (17.00) comb (21.30) eased past Chris Camp & Alan Dewar comb (18.19). The scoreline soon became 3-0 as debutant Mark Austin (19.29) & Kevin Savory (22.42) comb (20.85) defeated Peter Webb & Richard Ward comb (21.36). The last Pairs game went to Dunmow as Tony Starbrook (21.94) & Andrew Currivan (23.83) comb (22.89) lost out to the impressive partnership of David Saker & Mark Harris comb (25.67) who won in 39 darts... First on in the singles was Alan Currivan (23.05) against Richard Ward (24.14). Currivan won the first leg only for Ward to impressively take the second in 15 darts, Currivan kicked off the next leg with a maximum 180 and was set up on a double after 13 darts but rued missed doubles and Ward capitalised going 2-1 up! Ward then missed 2 darts at double 18 for an 87 finish and the game in the 4th as Currivan calmly checked out on 94 in 2 darts to take the game to a decider. In the fifth leg it was Currivan who kept his nerve to claim the victory in 20 darts... The next game produced some great entertainment as Kevin Savory (24.03) won the first leg in 18 darts only for Mark Harris (22.93) to claim the second in 21 darts with 108 finish!, Savory then replied with the 3rd leg in 20 darts only for Harris to bring the game all square at 2 a piece!, the deciding leg didnt fail to impress either as Harris was sat on 62 as Savory stepped up and superbly checked out on 140!!! to claim a brilliant 3-2 victory and his second Man of the match award of the season... Then Ken Russell (17.76) struggled as he lost out 3-1 to the high scoring Peter Webb (23.62) who was Dunmow's Man of the Match. Then Tony Starbrook (20.45) struggled on the doubles in the first leg and went 1 behind against Phillip Barrett (19.18), but Starbrook won the next two legs and then got into his stride in the 4th leg as he hit the second maximum 180 if the night and won the game 3-1 with an 18 dart leg.... Nick Grainger (18.49) got on himself in the winning club as he scored well and was unlucky not to have two ton+ finishes as he defeated Alan Dewar (18.63) 3-1 and securing victory for Walton...! The next game was another interestin watch as Reece Hutchison (23.85) lost out 3-1 against Matt Atkinson (23.28) but at 1-1 it looked like Hutchison was in command as he scored 91 to leave himself tops after 18 darts in the third leg only to watch Atkinson check out on 96 to go 2-1 up, and then in the fourth leg Hutchison again hit a big shot this time 135 to leave himself tops after 15 darts but once again didnt come back to the board for the double as Atkison was clinical finishing on 84 to take the game in 15 darts..... Andrew Currivan (23.48) extended Walton's advantage with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Chris Camp with finishes of 88 and 82 in the second and third legs..... Last game of the night and it was last weeks Man of the match Ben Austin (20.45) against former London county player David Saker (21.99), this was once again an entertaining game as Saker kicked off the first leg with a maximum 180 and won the leg in 18 darts before Austin won the second in 21 darts.. both players missed doubles in the third leg before Saker capitalised. Then a similar story could be said about the fourth leg but this time Austin took the honours and made it 2 a piece!!.  The fifth leg looked to go in favour of Saker before Austin came down to miss his chance to claim victory and Saker came through a 3-2 winner........ Very entertaining match with some steady perfromances!!!!!!

Then Tony Saunders (17.86) & Nick Grainger (14.52) comb (16.19) never got going as they lost out against the experienced pairing of Andrew Kateley & Harry Smith comb (23.83). Walton then pulled level as Alan Currivan (27.38) & Ken Russell (21.30) comb (24.41) are starting to gel together again as they defeated Alex Tinsley & Robert Tinsley comb (23.82).... Ken Russell (19.13) was straight back on in the singles and raced into a 2-0 lead against Robert Tinsley (22.05), however a poor 3rd leg which saw Russell miss his chances to kill the game off at 3-0 went to Tinsley and it was Tinsley who won the game 3-2 as Russell lost his way.. Next game saw two young talented players come up against each other as Ben Austin (22.95) came up against PDC player Alex Tinsley (24.21), Austin won the first leg in 20 darts and soon followed it up with the second and taking a 2-0 lead before Tinsley produced a superb 15 dart leg with 101 finish.. However Austin held his nerve and won the 4th leg in 21 darts for a superb 3-1 victory which saw him claim his first Man of The Match in the Men's Superleague...  up next on the oche was another Young talented player for Walton Reece Hutchison (22.68) who has only recently returned to the side.. it was Peter Cable (23.04) who won the first leg but Hutchison responded with the second in 20 darts with the aid of a 88 finish, Cable then won the 3rd but once again Hutchison took the next leg again in 20 darts .. the last leg saw Hutchison miss topps for 98 finish and 21 darts and Cable took his chance to claim a 3-2 victory and make the scoreline Walton 3-4 Galleywood... Sylvester won the opening leg in 18, Currivan won the second also n in 18 darts before Sylvester won the 3rd in 18 again as Currivan missed double 12 for a 98 finish and to win in 18 darts himself! the 4th leg saw Sylvester score the only maximum 180 if the night and take the leg in 22 darts as once again Currivan had a shot at double 12 this time for a 97 finish... Walton 3-5 Galleywood........ Then Kevin Savory (21.78) showed good character as he put the last couple of games behind him and produced a very steady display as he defeated Matt garrett (19.64) 3-0... Robert Emery (22.86) was also steady as he came up against County B man Andrew Kateley (25.38), the Galleywood man won the first in 18 darts only for Emery to respond with the second in 18 darts before missing his chance to go 2-1 in front as Kateley capitalised and won the game 3-1 and taking Galleywood's Man of the Match... Then Tony Starbrook (22.48) was also consistant but rued missed doubles in the first two legs as Barry Howgego (22.10) won the game 3-0 and giving Galleywood victory.. The last game of the night saw an out of sorts Andrew Currivan (19.90) miss chances in the first and third leg but struggled to play his normal game as he lost out 3-0 against former County man Harry Smith (21.47)....... a steady performance overall and with games that could of gone either way Walton may have got a result from the game.....

Walton 3 - 9 Waltham Abbey

Walton travelled to Waltham Abbey in good stead after a win and two draws from the last 3 games . However this unbeaten run soon came to an end after losing 4-0 in the pairs and losing the match at 7-1 against a very impressive Waltham Abbey side. first game in the pairs saw Robert Emery (23.48) & the returning Reece Hutchison (17.38) comb (20.43) lose against Paul Price & Daniel Sare who finished with 111 finish combined (23.83). Ben Austin (23.43) & Kevin Savory (19.86) comb (21.64) went down at the hands of Gary Middleton & the 180 scoring Stephen Graham comb (22.75). Tony Starbrook (23.57) & Andrew Currivan (23.33) comb (23.46) lost to Tony Hammond & Lee White comb (26.34). Last pairs of the night was a case of save the best until last from both sides as Alan Currivan (30.00) & Ken Russell (26.67) comb (28.48) gave it there all but missed out against the very impressive Nick Cox (33.28) who hit 3x140's on the bounce & Scott Doman combined (27.81)... Walton 0-4 Waltham Abbey.. first on in the singles saw Reece Hutchison (18.18) struggle as he lost 3-1 to Dave Pinnuck who hit a maximum 180 (19.48), but this will only be a minor blip for the talented Hutchison who will soon be flowing once he settles back into the side.. Then Robert Emery (22.77) put in a very steady performance to defeat Scott Doman (21.68) 3-0 taking the first leg in 17 darts..... Tony Saunders (16.16) returning after a two week break in Tunisia started with 140 but struggled to follow on after that as he came unstuck against former London county player Gary Middleton (23.48) and lost 3-0.... Ken Russell (23.76) played a good game which saw him hit a maximum 180 in a 17 dart leg but unfortunately lost out 3-2 against Waltham Abbey Man of the Match Tony Hammond (24.77).... this meant Waltham Abbey had secured the win and it was now just pride at stake for Walton.... next up Tony Starbrook (23.79) went 1-0 down against former County man Daniel Sare (23.51) who found another maximum 180 for the homeside in the first leg before Starbrook produced a brilliant 14 darter to win the second but it was Sare who won the match 3-1 with a 16 dart leg in the 3rd.... Then the talented Ben Austin (22.42) produced his best game yet as he defeated Nick Cox (21.38) 3-1 with 9 Ton+ scores along the way and if a few unlucky doubles would have gone in Austin could have had a very high average... The next game was arguably the game of the night as Alan Currivan (27.39) defeated former UK Open qualifier Lee White (24.75) 3-2 with a total of 23 Ton+ scores racked up betweent the 2 players with Currivan hitting 13 and White 10!! Currivan opened up with a darter and went 2-0 up but missed doubles saw White take his chances to pull back at 2-2 before Currivan eventually won the last leg in 18 darts afer missing 5 darts at doubles and the chance to finish it off with a 13 darter..... Last game of the night saw Younger brother Andrew Currivan (22.29) lose out 3-2 in a tight game against Paul Price (22.26) as currivan hit a maximum 180 in the 5th leg and missed his chance to go out in 15 darts.....

First game of the night saw Walton collapse in the pairs again as Robert Emery (17.00) & 180 scoring Ben Austin (22.33) comb (19.51) were on a double and 300 in front of Mel Sylvester & Jason Young comb (19.63) and losing out to the Galleywood pairing. Alan Currivan (26.38) & Rab Scott (21.72) comb (24.23) narrowly missed out against Matt Garrett & Barry Howgego comb (23.83) as the home side went 2-0 up. The third pairs game gave Walton some revival as Andrew Currivan (25.38) & Tony Starbrook (24.63) comb (25.03) made it 4 wins out of 5 for them this season with an impressive display against Alex Tinsley & Robert Tinsley comb (21.92), However the last pairs went in favour to Galleywood as Kevin Savory (20.46) & Tony Saunders (15.90) comb lost out to Andrew Kateley & Harry Smith comb (21.30)…  Walton 1-3 Galleywood….. first on in the singles and looking to get Walton back into the match was 14 year old Essex Youth player Ben Austin (22.71) up against Barry Howgego (23.39) and it was Howgego who found himself 2-0 up and in position to win the game 3-0, but the talented Austin dug deep winning the third in 21 darts then backed it up to take it 2-2 with a 19 dart leg, however after a close fifth leg it was Howgego who won the game leaving Austin waiting for a shot at tops. Walton soon found themselves 5-1 down as Robert Emery (20.39) lost out 3-1 against Matt Garrett (24.29) who won the first leg in 16 darts, Then Tony Starbrook (22.81) despite a steady showing lost out 3-0 to Peter Cable (23.12) as missed doubles cost Walton dearly and now were starring down the barrel at 6-1 down and needing all of the last 5 singles for a draw.. The next game saw the returning Rab Scott (20.45) lose out 3-0 against Essex County man Andrew Kateley (23.86). Andrew Currivan (27.24) started the ball rolling in saving some pride in the result with a supe rb performance beating PDC player Alex Tinsley (25.63) 3-1 with winning legs of 19, 17& 17 and taking his second Man of the Match of the season! Tinsley hit a 180 in the third leg. Kevin Savory (20.73) made it 2 wins out of the last 2 for him as for the second game running he found himself 2-0 down only to dig deep and come back to win 3-2 against Mel Sylvester (19.87) scoring a 180 along the way.. Alan Currivan (24.96) kept the momentum going as he claimed a 3-2 victory against former Essex County man Harry Smith (21.40) with the aid of 100 finish and 11 ton+ scores.. The last game of the night was contested between Nick Grainger (18.67) & Robert Tinsley (24.24) with Tinsley taking the honours 3-0 and rounded off the victory for Galleywood at 8-4…!!

Home vs Goodmayes at the Clacton Snooker Centre

 Walton 4 - 8 Goodmayes

Walton’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end as they entertained Goodmayes in an early top of the table clash in the Essex Superleague B Division, with both sides sitting joint top level on points after 3 games this was a crucial game… Things didn’t start well for Walton with John Palmer missing the match through illness, having had the highest winning average in the League the previous week this was a loss to the team however having a big and very capable squad on hand this season for Walton makes things easier to cover, Things didn’t start well at all as Walton lost the opening pairs only to fall like dominoes losing all 4 pairs and going into the singles 4-0 down!!! Andrew Currivan (22.67) lost out 3-1 against Jamie Manchester (26.59) who put in a Man of the match performance for the away side… Then Brother Alan Currivan (24.65) came up against Richard Howson (24.87) who finished on 139 in the first leg and then 110 in the second leg as Currivan then went out in 15 darts before busting 74 in the 4th leg as Howson capitalised to claim a 3-1 victory and putting Goodmayes 6-0 Up and Walton up against it!!… however a Man of the match performance from Kevin Savory (24.11) coming from 2-0 down to claim his first Superleague victory was very good to see with winning legs of 20, 18 & 15 against Richard Angelo (24.07) who hit 2 maximum 180’s in the 3rd leg and was on for 11 darts only to lose the leg and game.. Tony Starbrook (20.18) lost out 3-1 to Steve Woodside (22.00) giving Goodmayes the win at 7-1.. Walton did save some pride in the final third as Ben Austin (21.01) hit a maximum 180 on his way to a 3-1 victory against former London county man Keith Archer (21.20), Then Tony Saunders (22.57) showed his die hard attitude as he came from 2-0 down against Dave Ball (24.18) to win 3-2 with winning legs of 20, 21 & 20… Robert Emery (19.18) also came from 2-0 down against Robbie Smith (22.99) but lost out in the last losing 3-2….. Final game of the night saw Stalwart Ken Russell (23.07) convincingly win 3-1 against Steve Enever (20.79) giving Walton a draw in the 1:6:12 competition which keeps Walton 2nd and end with a Positive….
